Back in January 2017 while we were in CA for the music retail convention NAMM, we had some friends fill in for us at The Acoustic Shoppe. On the last day we were at the show, we saw on our phones that the Eastman E40D had sold at the Shoppe and noticed that it was paid by check. We got a bit alarmed with the form of payment and after our friends watching the shoppe for us looked up the customer's name on MO Casenet and saw that he had a history of check fraud. We knew then that our guitar had be stolen. When we got home the next day, we contacted the police and they instructed that they couldn't get involved until the check had bounced. While we waited for that to happen, we traced down the guitar to a "big box store" in town and notified them of the situation and asked that they hold the guitar until the police gave us word on how to proceed. (Read here how we almost lost the guitar from that store)
The first week in April (after some help from our social media plea) we were finally called down to Springfield Police Headquarters to sign an affidavit agreeing to prosecute, then were taken to the other shop to take back possession of our guitar in a case of "theft by deceit."
Though we knew the guitar was sold the same day it was taken from us, and it was never played, we weren’t sure we should sell it as new. After our post to Facebook, we also didn’t feel right profiting from the guitar when the other shop was out money and so many of our supporters worked so hard to help us get the guitar back. We wanted to make something good come out of all of this. Which is what brought us to raffle this beautiful guitar.
Children’s Miracle Network is a charity that is close to our hearts. After CMN stepped in to help John and his family after the birth of his first daughter Kylie ended in a life flight to KC and days in the NICU, we started to raise money as The Chapmans for them out on tour. (Here is a video we made of those events) When we opened The Acoustic Shoppe, we wanted to continue our support, and to date The Chapmans, and The Acoustic Shoppe have raised over $ 10,000 for CMN and we know this raffle with all net proceeds being donated will be a big help in continuing that mission.
Help us to raise some money for The Children’s Miracle Network, and you might become the rightful owner of this awesome handbuilt guitar or one of our other raffle prizes. All prizes ship free in the continental US.

The iconic shape of the Dreadnought is synonymous with acoustic guitars in general. Big and bold, these cannons are perfect for ensemble settings where the guitar competes for sonic space with other instruments or accompanying strong singers. The Dreadnought is the classic flat-picking bluegrass instrument.
