Description
The Bourgeois Professional Series Hog Top OM takes a different path than the typical spruce-topped acoustic, and that is exactly what makes it interesting. Built entirely from mahogany, this orchestra model delivers a voice that is direct, warm, and incredibly honest. The satin finish gives it a broken-in, understated feel, while details like the ziricote head veneer, ebony appointments, and vintage-style pearl dots keep it firmly in Bourgeois territory.
What stands out most is the clarity of the fundamental note. An all-mahogany build tends to strip away some of the extra harmonic complexity and focus on the core of the sound instead. Chords have a woody, punchy character that sits beautifully under vocals, and single-note lines come through with a dry, articulate response. The OM body shape adds balance across the spectrum, making it equally comfortable for fingerstyle players and flatpickers who want a little more precision than a dreadnought typically offers.
The playing experience feels refined without being flashy. The ebony fingerboard and traditional ebony bridge provide a quick, responsive attack, while the 2 5/16 inch bridge spacing gives the picking hand plenty of room to breathe. Whether equipped with Schaller tuners in the satin version or Waverlys in the gloss model, everything about the guitar feels purposeful and player-focused. This is a Bourgeois for someone who values nuance, balance, and a warm, mature voice over sheer volume or complexity.
